Wesley Central Hall

The hall was built in 1926 and Willis installed an organ incorporating pipe work from T.C Lewis. The opening recital was given by Guy Weitz on 22 January 1930. The organ was damaged in an air raid in 1941 was stood silent until 1950. Willis restored the instrument and Philip Dore gave the opening recital (with a few unexpected interjections from a troublesome Tromba!). The church was closed in 1990 and some pipe work was transferred to Shirley Methodist Church, Southampton and Copnor Methodist Hall. A new building was erected on the same site and has an electronic organ.

Former organists: A Booth, A.J George, E Till, John Grayson, John Stephens and George Parnell. The current organist is Christopher Hyson.
